Psychopaths strike again
- Fred Phelps and his gang of pro-smiting followers have plans to protest at the funerals of Virginia Tech students killed on Monday, claiming that the deaths were God’s wrath for America’s condoning homosexuality and the students who died weren’t ‘true Christians.’ Yes, this is the same group that protests at the funerals of U.S. soldiers who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan, claiming that their deaths are a result of America’s support of homosexuality.
- John McCain was joking about bombing Iran, singing it to the tune of the Beach Boys ‘Barbara Ann, ‘ because mass violence, especially when you know it will be at the cost of many civilian lives, is hilarious.
And he wants to be President? Seriously?
- Defense Secretary Robert Gates continued with the victim-blaming of the Iraqi people and again tied our presence in the country to their ‘standing up,’ continuing to ignore the fact that they don’t want us there so threatening to leave is not really a relevant point.
- “I believe, sir, in my soul that I have made the right decisions for this country when it comes to prosperity and peace.” – President Bush in Ohio. Check out the article, he discusses the parallels between Iraq and Vietnam, with an extraordinary lack of history and knowledge of that country and war that he fought so hard to avoid participating in.
And we wonder, as this week marks the 8th anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings, and over 30 students at Virginia Tech are now dead, how it is that our society fosters paranoid psychopaths who see violence as a solution. Lead by example.
