Join us January 27th!
Bring The Mandate For Peace to Washington DC
** Bring The Troops Home Now!
** Money for education and jobs, not war!
Less than two months after the November elections, Bush and the Republicans are trying
to overturn the elections results. Voters went out in massive numbers to demand an end to
the war in Iraq and for a change in domestic policies. Bush instead is calling for at least
20,000 more troops to be sent to Iraq. This is a complete rejection of the mandate for
peace delivered by the voters in November.
The National Youth and Student Peace Coalition (NYSPC) will be joining tens of
thousands of people bringing the mandate for peace to Washington DC Jan 27-29th. The
march, rally and lobby day has been called by United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ) to
remind Congress why they were elected and continue to push them to bring the troops
home now. We know that our schools are under funded, our financial aid has been
slashed and there are fewer and fewer jobs to be had because of Bush’s war in Iraq. We
went to the polls in November demanding an end to the war and to fund our public
schools and universities, to put money into job training and more money for veteran’s
benefits for our returning soldiers. We demand that our elected officials keep their
promises for a change. We invite all youth and students to join us in demanding an end to
the war in Iraq and prioritizing our needs.
Come for Saturday, stay till Monday!
During the weekend, NYSPC will be hosting different events for youth and students in
DC. The weekend will kick off with a rally and march on Saturday Jan. 27th. Sunday the
28th there will an all day lobbying training and strategy sessions hosted by different
groups. On Monday Jan. 29th, we will be hitting the halls of Congress to greet and lobby
the newly elected Congress.
